NATIONAL BAY, Fla.
(AP) — The sunsets of the Pacific Northwest are best for summer, but a Florida beach is popular with surfers and sunbathers and its beaches are often swamped with tourists.
National Beach at Sunrise Beach, a popular summer destination for beachgoers from across the country, has been closed to visitors since Sept. 5 due to a coronavirus outbreak, the Florida Department of Health said Wednesday.
Sunset Beach is located near Naples, Florida, and offers sunsets in all weathers and seasonally optimal conditions, the Department of Natural Resources said.
The beach, popular with the public, has seen a surge in visitors and has been shuttered since the outbreak.
Sunsets and beachgoers have complained about crowds of people, the department said.
National Park Service spokesman Dan Tull said the park was reviewing the closure and will evaluate it once a plan is established.
