What we know so far about the death of a baby at a Port St. Lucie hospital

A newborn was taken to a Port Saint Lucie facility Wednesday after he died in a hospital.

A coroner’s report is scheduled to be released Thursday morning.

The baby was in the NICU at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was taken there Wednesday morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Nicole Leventhal.

The baby was pronounced dead about 4:15 a.m.

A man who answered the door at St, Jude Childrens was not available to speak to the media.

The infant’s name is not being released.

Leventha said the hospital will not release more information until the coroner’s office reviews the case.

She said the infant was taken into protective custody at the hospital.

No other details were released.
